This weeks project was a watercolor painting. To start off we stretched our canvases and learned a few new techniques. the medium used was watercolor paint. We were told to pick an imagine that was nature themed, i choose to paint a vase of flowers. i really like my painting but next time i'll try to use a different method for my leaves. this has been my favorite project so far.
Board Game
We are making board games! Using tinkercad and the schools 3D printer, we are responsible for creating 4 plastic game pieces for a board game of our choice. For my game, I’m doing an “Adventure Time” spin off of candy land. For my 4 pieces, I’m making 4 characters off of the show Adventure time. (Finn, Jake, Bmo, and Princess Bubble gum.
Metal Project
For this project, we carved a metal square piece to put in the center of a vardstock piece. I choose to create a sun and then followed by decorating my cardstock with colored pencils and oil pastels. I wish that my metal piece looked more defined and had more details but I'm still happy with the end project. One mental note I have created during this project is that oil pastels are a tad messy, but i liked working with them.
Paper pulp project
The paper pulp project was actually a process. We blended up scraps of paper with water to create the pulp mixture. To make the paper we painted on, we poured the mixture into a rectangular box like thing and then squeezed access water out with a sponge. The paint used was the blended mixture of paper and water. I personally didn’t like how my project turned out but at least I got the experience.
Juxtaposition
For the last four weeks or so, we have been working on a juxtaposition project. We were told to pick an animal to sketch inside of a said rectangle on a paper. We colored the entire animal and inside of the box but left the rest blank. I choose a butterfly and green leafs to go inside my box. In order to draw contrast between the box and the outside I googled zentangle technique and used a foutian pen to create different patterns and lines. Im happy with how my picture turned out, but I wish i would have extended my background out (leaves and forrest type of vibe) to go along with my butterfly but I didn't even think of that haha.
Sketch Book
For this project, we created a sketch book. To begin with we practiced the Japanese book binding technique on a spare piece of cardboard. (shown in the first picture). For the outside of my sketch book I choose to go for a more scrappy look and combined different fabrics to glue to the outside cover. I covered the cardboard and a smaller thin piece about a quarter of inch a part. I used a drill to created holes to sew the bindings of the book. I'm happy eith the end result of my book. :)
Mask
For our first project, we sewed a mask. I'm not going to lie I did struggle on this one. Not all photos are present because the phone I took them on is now broken. We were give fabric, a needle, some thread, and a sewing pattern of the mask. I started out by cutting 4 strips of fabric, folding them so the rough edges were hidden, and sewing them by hand. I then used the patterns to cut out four pieces of fabric that were used as the base of the mask.
